Friday's List: 7 Ways to Enjoy Fall

Oct 3, 2014

Happy Friday! I missed last weeks wish list so this week to make up for it, I've compiled a fun list of ways to enjoy fall. Whether you like spending your days outside in the crisp fall air or inside baking pumpkin pies, there's lots of ways to make the most of this season.

Visit your local Farmer's Market. It's harvest time and produce is fresh and plentiful. Stock up on vegetables and herbs and grab a pumpkin while you're there.

Decorate. Whether you live in an apartment building or a single family dwelling, decorating for fall is fun to do both inside & out. Bring fall indoors by adding some leaves, branches or small gourds to your fireplace mantle or decorate your table with a fall inspired table runner (burlap is cheap & pretty!). For outside, add a painted pumpkin to your front porch and a fall wreath to your door. (fall wreath tutorial here!)
Get active. Biking, walking, running and hiking are all fun activities to do either solo or with family and friends. The fall scenery is beautiful as leaves are changing colour, and the cooler temperatures are comfortable when working up a sweat. Try exploring somewhere new, a new part of town or a new community.

Have an outdoor fire. What better way to feel the coziness of fall than curled up near a fire under the stars sipping hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows?! Of course you should always follow the local laws and guidelines for your local community regarding outdoor fires.

Host an end of season picnic. It's not too late! Add on a few layers to keep out the chill, gather some friends and soak up the sun before winter arrives and the evenings become completely dark. I share some suggestions for picnic menu ideas herePut together a Halloween Costume. It's never too early to start working on a costume. Especially if you're aiming for something original and unique. Brainstorm some ideas and start hunting for the materials you need. October 31st will be here before you know it.

Organize a Girls Night Craft Night. Even if you aren't that into crafts, a girls get together with wine, cocktails and snacks is always a winning combination. If you happen to make some fall crafts or even get a head start on your Christmas crafts (stockings, tree skirt, etc) in the process, then even better!

And there you have it! Seven different ways that are sure to have you enjoying the fall season to the fullest.

ps. We're finishing the dining room this weekend, check back next week for updates!
