Hello again!

Jan 5, 2015

Hi there! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. I sure did! We were so non-stop with house projects right up until our Christmas party on the 13th, that once it was over with, I was in full on vacation mode, and was it ever good :)

I celebrated my birthday the week before Christmas, which is when the over indulging officially began. Nick took me to dinner at my favourite local restaurant, Bacalao, which was fantastic, as always. On Saturday I hosted both of our siblings for brunch. Monday was Secret Santa with my girlfriends...we ordered in Indian; and then after a few days break in between...it was Christmas!

I spent Christmas Eve with my brother at our parent's house (my sister and her boyfriend opted to spend Christmas in Florida this year). Some family & friend's joined us that night for our traditional dinner of salt cod and roast beef. Christmas Day was a pretty lazy day for us in between preparing and eating brunch and Christmas Day dinner.  On Boxing Day Nick and I met back at our house to open our presents for each other together.

If you follow me on Instagram then you've probably seen some of these photos already, but if not, here's a collage recap of a few shots from over the holidays.

I don't know about you, but once January 6th arrives  and the holidays have come to an end, I'm ready to put it all away and get started on organizing (physically & mentally) for the new year.

My organizing goals for the next week include:

  • Purging my closet. We're already a few months into winter and there are sweaters in my closet that I haven't reached for once...time to give them to goodwill. I also have way too many scarves, and again,I reach for the same ones all the time, the rest will have to go.
  • Organizing the kitchen. When we first moved in, we didn't even have enough items to fill all the cabinetry (there's a corner lazy-susan cabinet that's completely empty). We were given lots of new kitchen items for Christmas so I'm giving away anything old or duplicates to make room for the new things.
  • Christmas Decor. Last year my Christmas decor was stored in cardboard boxes which made it very difficult to find certain things and see exactly what I had. Plus the boxes don't maintain good shape. This year I'm re-storing everything in plastic containers. A lot of stores like Home Depot and Walmart have these on sale now...perfect timing.
What are you tackling this January? Have you set some organizational goals? I'll be sharing some organizational inspiration soon plus an update on our on-going projects.
