Design Challenge

Apr 2, 2015

Today I'm finally committing to finalizing some extremely outstanding design projects.

In order to keep me on track and focused, I'm participating in the One Room Challenge! The Challenge is created and hosted by Linda and you can read all about the details on her blog, Calling it Home. Basically it's a link-up challenge involving 20 bloggers committed to re-designing a room in their home in 6 weeks. The challenge is also open to not-yet-discovered/anyone at all bloggers, which is where I fit in :)!
I'm not going to lie - although helpful - having a deadline makes me nervous. But I also work extremely well under pressure so most of me is saying, bring it on.

The room I've decided to tackle is the guest bedroom. It's been in slings now for close to 4 months. It's also where we will move when the renos start on the master bedroom so the sooner this guest room is done, the sooner we can get started on the master bedroom.

Here's how the room looked when we bought the house...can you believe the carpet and that wallpaper?!
Here's how it looks now...(pretty awful!) The wallpaper is removed, and the carpet pulled up - its all ready for a splash of feminine rustic chic decor!
To help bring my ideas to life, I've put together this basic mood board.

You can't tell in the photo above, but we've already started hanging the wallpaper. We also already have the bed, and the wall lamps from Ikea are on the way.

Left to acquire is a rug, curtains, night tables, plus some general decor items to add personality and finesse to the space.

But before I can start decorating, we have to install the hardwood floor (happening this weekend, fingers crossed!), baseboards, closet organizer and closet doors.

Here are a few other images that have caught my eye. I'm loving the small doses of glam, the crisp linens, the neutral pallets with small pops of colour and the calm and airy feeling of these rooms.

Each Thursday for the next 5 weeks I will feature my progress and updates on this room so be sure to check in to see how things are coming along and feel free to chime in below in the comments with your thoughts or suggestions.

You can check out all the other participants and their projects by heading over to Calling It Home. I'm linking up there today :)
