Curb Appeal Ideas & Inspiration

Aug 31, 2015

Thanks again to everyone for all of your well wishes on my blog's anniversary!
In case you missed it, the SIB turned 1!

I'm super excited to be posting again. I really admire bloggers who can post regularly on a strict schedule. The reality for me is that between enjoying summer, managing the ongoing bathroom reno, completing other decor & DIY projects and working full time, sometimes there just isn't time! That being said, I truly LOVE writing and sharing on the blog and I've missed it these past few weeks.

Today, instead of focusing on the interior of the home, we're talking home exteriors! Most of us spend so much of our time focusing on the interior of our homes, that we sometimes neglect to give the exterior the same amount of love and care.  We're nearing the end of summer, but there is still time to check some of these exterior home ideas off your list.

Paint Your Garage Doors

This one is at the top of my list. I may not get around to it this year but I'll definitely be doing this next Spring. Match your garage door to your front door, or go with a different yet coordinating color. This is an easy weekend project and there are lots of DIY tutorials online to help get you started. Here are some of my favorite painted garage doors.

Add Seating

Even if you only have a small deck or landing at the front of your house, a small table and chairs, a bench or even better, a swinging bench, can go a long way in making a home look cozy and inviting. After all, who doesn't love to curl up on a front porch bench?

Add Florals & Mulch

Fresh soil or mulch and colorful flower baskets can add major wow factor to the front of your home. Get creative and plant your own pots. Go even further and DIY your own pots to add major curb appeal while cutting down on excessive costs. Check out these DIY pot and planter box ideas.

Treat your front porch the same you would your front entryway or even your living room for that matter. There are countless ways to spruce up this space. You could add a small table with a lantern, a rustic ladder with hanging pots and flowers, a bright and colorful exterior rug, hanging flower baskets or flank your front door with two large flower pots.

Our Home's Exterior

We've done some updates on our home's exterior this year. I've added vibrant red mulch around the trees, manicured and cleared up the two gardens, gave our house numbers a fresh coat of spray paint, and added some florals and a welcome mat. Take a look!

Soak up the rays, have an ice cream, go swimming... or take on one of these curb appeal projects. Either way, hoping you enjoy these last few weeks of summer!
