World Tour Decor | Sweden

Mar 25, 2016

Ever wonder what home decor looks like in other parts of the world?  What better place to find design and decor inspiration than from real homes, and expand our own scope of design and decor without leaving our home? I personally love ogling at real estate photos from other countries.

So, in case you're like me and you can't wait to take a peek inside some fabulously decorated homes, I've scoured a few sites and have discovered some beautiful homes that I'll be sharing over the next little while.

Where better to start our world tour than my favourite country, Sweden! I've mentioned it previously but in case you missed it, I've lived in Sweden twice and returned again last summer for a vacation. I'm definitely biased towards Scandinavian decor, however, I think the featured home today also has nice traditional elements and isn't overly modern. Let me know what you think! And if you're in the market for a home in Sweden, this one is for sale.

The traditional style cabinets and brass pulls help balance the modern elements of this all white kitchen. Timeless subway tile is a great feature for the cabinet-less wall, while the lack of upper cabinets lets the space feel larger and less cramped.
Living Room
The antique brass chandelier in this living room is so unexpected and I love it! This theme of unexpected lighting is featured more than once in this home. It's such a easy way to add an element of surprise and elegance. Understated linen sofas can be dressed up and accessorized with throw pillows and blankets; all of which can be switched out for the changing seasons.

More stunning lighting in the master bedroom. I also love the wall of curtains. This adds such lovely texture to the otherwise bare walls, without compromising the minimalist style decor.

I mean, seriously?! Are you loving this lighting? It really adds such a glam factor to a fairly unglamorous space. I would normally only think to add such a statement light fixture over a tub or in a dressing room but I think this works great in this bathroom. A floating vanity and toilet keep the space from feeling overcrowded.

And there you have it. Could you see yourself living in this Swedish home? A favourite aspect for me is the amazing natural light and high ceilings which is quite common amongst most apartment buildings in Sweden. I also am extremely fond of the kitchen which I think had a perfect mix of modern and traditional elements.

Which country will we check out next? Check back in the next few weeks to see!

On Trend | Palm Leaf Print

Mar 22, 2016

Maybe it has to do with the official arrival of Spring, or perhaps something to do with the trip to Florida that I just booked for mid-April (!) - but whatever it is, I am completely obsessing over the palm leaf takeover. This trend first appeared last year and I'm happy to see it continuing into 2016. These bright tropical leafy greens are showcasing themselves everywhere, from wallpaper to swimsuits, and doing so in a very chic and stylish way. Here's a roundup of some palm leaf print inspiration.

And finally, you can add some palm leaf decor to your home with this super simply DIY tutorial for a  palm leaf felt throw pillow from A Beautiful Mess.

I personally love the bright green framed prints, especially against a white wall. I also think palm print wallpaper would have such a major statement in a small powder room. Will you be incorporating palms into your decor?
